How long does a normal divorce take?

Georgia law allows a divorce case to be completed 31 days after the defendant has actually been served with documents. We can get a settlement agreement sent earlier than that, but the judge is required to wait until the 31st day after service has been perfected on the defendant to finalize the documents.

If a final hearing in front of a judge is not needed but a number of problems need to be solved, a case may take anywhere from 2 to 6 months.
